VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT
STARSkate I & II members are required to earn 150 volunteer points, STARSkate III & IV members are required to earn 300 volunteer points. The volunteer chart is under the "Volunteer" tab of the website found the in "Our People" section. You may reserve a volunteer position by emailing office@skateoavkille.ca.
OSC STARSKATE FIGURE SKATING LEVELS
The Oakville Skating Club utilizes a point system for determining skaters’ qualifications for program levels. Each skater’s points are calculated according to the following chart.
QUALIFICATION POINTS CALCULATION
- 2 points for each complete Free Skate Test passed (Elements and Program)
- 1 point for each GROUP of Dances passed, including Diamond Dances
- 1 point for each Skills Test passed
- 1 point for each Interpretive Test passed
- 2 points for each Competitive Test passed

STARSkate I - 60 minutes Ages: Open
For skaters passed CanSkate Stage 5 badge interested in figure skating.
This program includes 60 minutes of ice time and a 30 minute group lesson. Skaters may hire a professional coach for private or semi-private lessons in addition to their group lesson.

| STARSkate II - 60 minutes Ages: Open
Open to figure skaters with their first test (usually the Dutch Waltz) to 1 point or are ready to proceed to a session with no group lessons. These session are ice time only.
Minimum 2 sessions a week are required for STARSkate II.

| STARSkate III - 70 minutes Ages: Open Open to figure skaters with 2 to 8 points. Minimum 2 sessions a week are required for STARSkate III.

| STARSkate IV - 70 minutes Ages: Open Open to figure skaters with 9 or more points.
Minimum 2 sessions a week are required for STARSkate IV.

| Competitive B - 80 to 120 minutes Ages: Open
This program is for skaters wishing to become competitive
skaters. The program will be overseen
and delivered by our High Performance coach - Michelle Leigh. All competitive B sessions will be coached in
a group format. The curriculum and
coaching team will be overseen by the High Performance Coach and designed to
develop the necessary skating skills and elements required to become
competitive skaters. The off-ice portion of the program is included and will be
a variety of classes designed specifically around the needs of the developing competitive
skater. Skaters on this session will
attend competitions as a team to ensure the social and team support environment
enhances the competitive experience.

| Competitive A - 80 to 120 minutes Ages: Open
This program is for skaters wishing to train and compete at
a high level. The program includes on
ice sessions that will be supervised and supported by our High Performance
Skating Coach - Michelle Leigh. Skaters
may be coached privately by their base coach and also receive coaching and
training support throughout the session.
The off- ice portion of the program is mandatory. It is designed to enhance development through
a variety of classes designed specifically around the needs of the competitive
skater. Skaters on this session must be
Sectional qualified, planning to compete at the Senior Bronze STARSkate level
or higher or approved by the Technical Committee.

| Sr. Enrichment - 60 or 80 minutes Ages: Open Enrichment program open to figure skaters that have been identified for
this program by the skating director. This is ice time only.

| Open - 60 minutes Ages: Open Open to all skaters above the STARSkate I level.

| Fundamentals Class - 50 minutes Ages: Open This is a group lesson focused on skating, edges, and turns designed to improve everyone's skating. It is open to everyone in STARSkate II and above.

| Adult Figure Skating - 50 minutes Ages: Open A session for Adult figure skaters. Some group instruction will be provided with opportunities to arrange private lessons. These are are all discipline sessions. OSC membership and fundraising fees apply, but there is no volunteer requirement for adults.

| Dance/Skills - 60 minutes Ages: Open These are skills and dance sessions for skaters working on their Sr. Bronze dances and/or skills and higher. This session can be counted towards a STARSkate program

| Jr. Enrichment - 90 minutes Ages: Open This program is for interested in supplementing their CanSkate or STARSkate sessions to progress towards competitive figure skating. These sessions include on and off ice group lessons with no private lessons. Skaters must be recommended by the Skating Director to qualify for Jr. Enrichment sessions.
