ICE SHOW 2008

OAKVILLE SKATING CLUB

CELEBRATES BROADWAY

The Oakville Skating Club's Bi-Annual Ice Show, will be held at Oakville Arena on April 4, 5 & 6, 2008.  The theme this year is: "Broadway."

The Oakville Skating Club has many wonderful traditions and the greatest of them all is this full-scale production of big lights, big sets and colourful costumes. Our members have always carried with them fond memories of their skating years and the most vivid and long lasting have been those created through participation in the ice show.

Our show is produced solely for the benefit and enjoyment of the skaters and their families and the success of the production is measured by the excitement on the ice and in the audience. Our only goal is to provide an enjoyable and positive experience for each and every skater.

THINGS TO KNOW:

  •  Registration forms are due by November 1, 2007.

  • Fees can be paid by cheque, debit or credit card. Cheques may be post-dated to Feb. 1, 2008.

  • Picture day (for the program and proud parents) is scheduled for February 17, 2008 at Oakville Arena in the Pine Room and all costumes must be ready by this day.

  • Rehearsals begin on Monday March 17, 2008 and continue through the final “Dress Rehearsal” on Thursday April 3, 2008. 100% attendance is required as most group numbers will have only 3 or 4 practices. Please take this into consideration if your child attends a private school and is still on March break when our rehearsals start.

  • The show dates are Friday April 4th (evening), Saturday April 5th (afternoon and evening) and Sunday April 6th(afternoon).

  • The ice show is a big production!  We cannot put on a show this size without your help and we are asking that ALL parents volunteer some of their time. Even an hour or two to make phone calls or be part of our set-up or take-down teams would be a big help! We will also need moms and dads to help chaperone the various groups backstage during the production and dress rehearsals as well as the 4 shows. There will be many jobs to fill. When asked to volunteer some of your time, please say Yes!

  • Our PreSchool Canskate and Canskate skaters will take part in 2 of the 4 shows. Our youngest skaters will be performing in the 1st half of the show. All other participants will be in all 4 shows.

If you have any questions or need further clarification, please contact the club office at 905-257-7771. If you wish to speak to the Director,  Annemarie Donaldson, directly, please leave a message and she will call you back as soon as possible. Please be a part of our show! You and your child will have memories that will last you a lifetime.

Without the participation of all the skaters who take part in the show, and the volunteers whose  contributions are always appreciated, the show will not be possible.  Please call the club office and offer your contribution, so that the Ice Show Committee can plan for the event.
