Test Days

Once a skater reaches the STARSkate II level, Freeskate, Skills, and Dance tests are taken on Skate Canada Test Days and evaluated by Skate Canada certified evaluators. Test days are scheduled based on the guidelines published by Skate Canada; however each evaluator works at their own pace.  It is thus important that skaters arrive 45 minutes ahead of time as test days can get as much as 30 minutes ahead of schedule.  Tests may be scheduled during the day or evening.

It is the skater’s responsibility to keep all their test sheets as there are sometimes errors in the records and it is necessary to prove you have passed a prerequisite test to continue.  If a test is missed due to illness, a doctor’s certificate must be submitted within one week to the Test Chairperson and the fee will be refunded.  If a skater fails to show up for a test, the test fee is still payable and the test will be listed as a “Retry” on the test forms.

No changes can be made to the list of skaters taking tests within three weeks of the test day.  Please check with your coach that you are in for the correct tests before the deadline.

Test fees are due 3 days before the test day for the skater to allowed to skate the test.  The Skate Canada Rule states that "A candidate who withdraws within 14 days of the time ammounced for the test shall be liable for the test fee.  This fee shall be submitted with the fees for the tests tried.  This applies to all test including competition tests."  The fees include the $10.00 test fee paid directly to Skate Canada and the $5.00 OSC hospitality/administration fee that is used for test day expenses.
